Circuit 2 - Connecticut, New York, Vermont

At the annual conference, I shared that my mission for Circuit 2 is to serve the professional development needs of our members. This sounds simple, but the world in which we work is busy and our budgets tend to be limited. Professional development doesn’t always happen as often as we’d like it to. But in the coming year, I would like to extend a challenge to everyone in Circuit 2: Get involved in any way you can. Attend a free brown bag event (there is an excellent free brown bag event happening at the University of Rhode Island next month. See below for details!), host your own brown bag event, write an article for our newsletter, help start a Circuit 2 wiki, organize a social event, do a webinar based on a presentation you’ve done previously…there’s no limit to what you can do!
ASCA was built through the work of volunteers and continues to thrive because of its volunteers. If you are interested in getting involved, please let me know. My email is mhuston@hartford.edu and my direct line is 860-768-7799. I look forward to seeing what our circuit accomplishes and hope to chat with you soon.

Each event is largely discussion based and focuses on a hot topic within our field. They last for approximately 2-3 hours and can be open to anyone within the field of student conduct, student affairs, ASCA, ACUHO-I, NASPA, etc.
In our current economic climate, many colleges and universities are tightening budgets for professional developments. Brown bag events are free across the board. All you need is to bring your lunch! Whether you are hosting or attending, there is no financial commitment necessary. All it takes is selecting a date, choosing a topic, and getting the word out.
If you are interested in hosting an event on your campus, please contact Michelle Huston and she will work with you to make your event happen. Her e-mail is mhuston@hartford.edu .
