The University of North Carolina at Charlotte has implemented a single Administrative Hearing Officer model for all Sexual and Interpersonal Misconduct cases. This webinar will highlight factors that drove the transition to this adjudication model, implementation, benefits and challenges, training, staff support, interdepartmental collaborations, and future considerations regarding the model.

Presenters:
Jonathan Adams, Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student Conduct
A native Alabamian, Adams received his BA in Political Science and MA in Higher Education Administration at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. Following his time at the Capstone, Adams worked at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, where he served as the Residence Community Director & Conduct Coordinator for Residence Life & Student Housing. In 2010, Adams joined the UNC Charlotte as the Assistant Director for Student Conduct and Safety Outreach. After two years at UNC Charlotte, he left to serve as the Associate Director of Student Conduct at Appalachian State University, and in 2014, Adams returned to UNC Charlotte to serve as the Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student Conduct.

Michelle Reinken, PhD, Associate Director of Student Conduct
Dr. Michelle Reinken began her career in student affairs while serving as a Residence Director at Westminster College in Pennsylvania. She was recruited to serve as the Assistant Director for Residential Education and Services and then was named the Assistant Director for Judicial Affairs and Title IX Coordinator at Concordia University in Irvine, California. Prior to joining UNC Charlotte, Dr. Reinken most recently served as a Residential Life Coordinator at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Reinken has a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education with a concentration in Leadership for Higher Education. She completed her dissertation focusing on Title VII and Title IX (sexual misconduct) litigation within higher education. Dr. Reinken has also been awarded a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology as well as a Master of Arts in Higher Education with a concentration in Student Affairs Administration.
