This webinar will give a snapshot of the results of a study aimed at understanding how women experience a hostile environment in non-explicit ways in higher education including campus subcultures such as academics, co-curriculars, and social atmospheres. Participants may utilize this information to evaluate their campus life and sexual assault prevention efforts.

Presenter:
Kelly Golden,  Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Deputy Title IX Coordinator
Regis College

Kelly Golden currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs/Title IX Deputy Coordinator at Regis in Weston, MA. Her work on campus is aimed at preventing assaults from occurring by opening conversations for students and breaking down barriers to reporting. She seeks to make all students on campus, regardless or race, gender, religious, or other status, feel welcome. As a doctoral candidate, Kelly conducted her dissertation research on the experiences of undergraduate women in their campus subcultures such as academic, co-curricular, and social atmospheres. Students were also asked to submit images that either made them feel welcome or unwelcome in their campus environments. Results reveal that as practitioners, we have a long way to go in order to truly remedy the hostile environment of higher education.
