We are excited to announce "Student Conduct 101" a part of the newly created, ASCA Institute, a learning education series. We recognize that our Gehring Academy happens once a year, and some of our members begin their journeys in student conduct roles after the end of the academy. We have created a 3-day, intensive training, that is designed to provide a foundational understanding of student conduct, for student conduct professionals.
This institute is perfect for those new to student conduct or transitioning to conduct work from another functional area as well as administrators with minimal or no conduct experience who have conduct officers in their supervisory portfolio.
This series will be led by Dr. Alexandra E. Hughes, Education Specialist, with select presentations by Christine Simone, Deputy Director, and will include: History Behind Student Conduct, Law vs. Policy: Student Conduct and Legal Considerations, Student Conduct: Policies and Procedures, Academic Integrity vs. Classroom Management, Facilitating Conduct Meetings- Conflict, Empathy, and Fear, Personal vs. Institutional Philosophy and Sanctioning, Is There True Equity in Student Conduct Processes?, Liaisons and Campus Partnerships, Leadership and Compassion Fatigue.
We recognize the importance of having intentional conversations and will be limiting this class cohort to 25 persons. This will allow for one on one office hours with the instructor and special guests as well.
For the health and safety of our members and attendees, this institute will be held in a virtual setting. Please mark your calendars for half day sessions, October 13th, 14th, 15th, 2021.
