OPEN TO ALL! WIth the need for a virtual setting, this regional event will be able to accommodate all geographic areas. 

The annual training for New England Conduct Officers Institute is virtual again! This training will be a "go at your own pace" program that attendees can attend at their convenience over a two-week period Attendees will be able to engage with colleagues and the presenters through ASCA’s Learning Management System the two-week period. There will be a live Q and A with presenters at the end of the training period. 

This is designed for new conduct officers to learn about the basic components of holding a student conduct hearing. Topics will include:

  • History of student conduct and foundational case law
  • How to prepare for a hearing
  • Effective questioning and educational conversations
  • Decision-making process and sanctioning
  • Introduction to Restorative Justice Practices
Presenters:
  • History and Legal Aspects – Peter Wiernicki, Ed.D, Director of Community Standards, Bridgewater State University
  • Preparing for a Hearing – Kate Legee, Director of Student Conduct and Prevention and Joseph Argueta, Coordinator and Case Manager for Conduct, University of Massachusetts Lowell
  • Questioning and Educational Conversations – Marshall Lancey, Director of Community Standards and Accountability, Curry College
  • Decision Making and Sanctioning – Jenn Kosses, Associate Dean of Students, Ed.D. Wentworth Institute of Technology
  • Introduction to Restorative Justice Practices – Rachel King, Ph.D. Title IX Coordinator, Curry College
*On Monday, September 20th at 11:00 AM EST there will be a live session with the presenters, this period is designated for attendees to ask questions about the sessions.
