The Truth About Litigation Stress: Managing the "Creeping Legalism" Through Evidence-Based Approaches

Physicians and conduct practitioners have a lot in common. We're compassionate and conscientious, and it hurts when someone suggests by threatening a lawsuit that we've been less than diligent about our work. This webinar will utilize literature, theoretical frameworks, and evidence-based approaches used in the medical field to master skills in overcoming the "creeping legalism" of student conduct practice today.

Presenter:
Valerie Glassman (she/her)
is an assistant dean of students in the Office of Student Conduct at Duke University where she oversees the recruitment, training, and continuing education for the Undergraduate Conduct Board and shares responsibility for responding to allegations of undergraduate misconduct. Prior to this role, she worked for Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life. Glassman earned her M.S.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana University and is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Educational Leadership at East Carolina University, where she is researching the impacts of judicialization on the professional work and personal lives of student conduct practitioners.
