Student Life Specialist for Student Development (21-14)
Francis Marion University invites applications for a Student Life Specialist who, under limited supervision, will assist in the Office of Student Life, the management of student conduct, and coordination of programming for the campus community. 
The Student Life Specialist reports to the Vice President of Student Life.

The Student Life Specialist is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
  • Assist with directing student conduct meetings, conferences, and hearings then providing a resolution for violations of the Student Honor Code and Community standards.
  • Assist student organizations with campus registration process, provides annual training to club officers and advisors.
  • Assist with programming efforts associated with the campus Student Activity Fair.
  • Assist in the advisement of activities associated with the Interfraternity Council (IFC), President’s Council, and other registered student organizations. 
  • Is an active, and involved member of the Office of Student Life.
  • Takes initiative for the planning and follow-through of student activities, which may include advertising, catering and communication with the public, the FM community and/or alumni.
  • Available for evening and weekend activities such as Freshman Move-In, Open House, Homecoming Activities, Commencement, and various student and community events.
  • Prepares appropriate advertising, reports, documents timely and accurately.
  • Participation in one week a month of on-call rotation for emergencies and other serious student-related issues.

State Requirements: A Bachelor's degree.
 FM Preferences:
  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge and experience with student conduct processes used to resolve incidents with students by utilizing individual meetings, fostering personal growth, intellectual development, and civic responsibility.
  • Ability to positively motivate and encourage all students including those from diverse populations.
  • Experience with event planning and ability to successfully manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience in advising students and working with student organizations in Higher Education.
  • Knowledge of, and proficiency with software applications such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.  Website content management considered a plus.

Band/Level: 4/1

Salary: will commensurate with experience and State pay band.
