Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards (Office of the Dean of Students)
Job Summary:
Southern Methodist University (SMU) is seeking a Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards. This individual facilitates the student conduct process for SMU, including oversight for the hearing, adjudicating, and determination of responsibility for alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct. The Director educates the University community about the Code of Conduct and responsible behavior and oversees the training and advising of the University hearing boards, hearing officers, and Honor Council. The Director also supervises two staff members within the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards.
Essential Functions:
Oversees and facilitates the hearing, adjudication, and determinations of responsibility for alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct for individuals and student organizations.
Advises faculty and staff members regarding the student conduct process as well as third parties, including parents, related to conduct questions.
Coordinates assessment initiatives and regular reporting regarding student conduct, including Clery reporting, SACS reporting, and database management.
Supervises two staff members within the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards.
Oversees the development and implementation of an outreach plan designed to build relationships that help to educate the SMU student community about the Code of Conduct and responsible behavior.
Oversees the training and advising of the University hearing boards, hearing officers, and Honor Council.
Serves on University and Division committees as requested, including the Dean of Students Leadership Team, the Caring Community Connections Team, and the Bias Education Response Team.
