Position Announcement: Senior Title IX Investigator/Deputy Title IX for Coordination of StudentInvestigations, Student Conduct & Community Standards

 
The Division of Student Life at the University of Tennessee invites applications for the Senior Title IXInvestigator/Deputy Title IX for Coordination of Student Investigations position for Student Conduct & CommunityStandards (SCCS). This is an exempt, non-tenure track staff position.

Student Conduct & Community Standards develops student integrity and accountability through an educational,consistent, and equitable conduct process.
 

The Position:

 
Reporting to the Director, the primary duties of the Senior Title IX Investigator/Deputy Title IX for Coordination ofStudent Investigations for Student Conduct & Community Standards are as follows:
 
  • Ensure SCCS investigations are compliant with policy, including developing and implementing processesand procedures to ensure compliance with Title IX regulations.
  • Oversee SCCS policy investigations and development/facilitation of alternative resolutions/informalresolutions for policy violations in collaboration with the Office of Title IX.
  • Supervise TIX Investigator(s), mentor and supervise practicum students.
  • Serve as Title IX subject-matter expert for SCCS and a senior member of the SCCS office.
  • Manage and oversee SCCS policy case creation.
  • Assist with oversight and serve as Hearing Coordinator of Title IX formal hearings.
  • Assist with SCCS formal hearing processes.
  • Compile & oversee SCCS policy data to help guide prevention efforts with campus stakeholders.
  • Investigate and make recommendations for SCCS policy investigations, including acknowledgment ofreceipt of formal complaints, case assignment, investigation strategy, investigative report review,party outcome meetings, and general oversight of resolution processes (including case outcomes,recommended sanctions, and informal resolutions).
  • Manage/Collaborate on other non-policy Code of Conduct cases as needed and ensure thoroughdocumentation of investigations.
  • Serve on Title IX Response Team/Sexual Assault Response Team.
  • Serve alongside SCCS Director on University Threat Assessment Team.
  • Engage in cross-campus collaboration and represent SCCS on campus and community Title IX panels,information sessions, and public awareness campaigns.
  • Assist in design and delivery of training appropriate for specific campus entities with responsibilities underpolicy or the Student Code of Conduct, including but not limited to SCCS formal hearing members.
 
Provide general guidance on SCCS processes and Student Code of Conduct requirements.
 

Qualifications:

 
Required Qualifications: Education:
  • Master's degree Experience, Knowledge, andSkills:
 
  • Two years of work experience in compliance and/or higher education (including discrimination, humanresources, student discipline, criminal, legal, Title IX, or similar).
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques
  • Ability to maintain appropriate level of confidentiality
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment while maintaining effective working relations with members of theUniversity community
  • Ability to manage active caseload and assigned training responsibilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of best practices, policies, and legal issues in the field;
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with University students, faculty and administrators
  • Ability to work with a diverse community.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • J.D. or Doctoral degree
  • 5 years of demonstrated full-time experience investigating complex issues
  • Full-time experience in a University setting; Knowledge of Title IX and/or pasttraining/certification in Title IX work
  • Experience conducting training exercises for small or large groups Experienceand Abilities:
  • Experience giving presentations to groups
  • Ability to conduct large scale investigations
  • Working knowledge of student conduct software/Maxient
  • Knowledge of assessment and data compilation
  • Knowledge of laws and policies effecting student rights and privacy
 

Salary: 

Commensurate with experience and other qualifications.
