Student Conduct Coordinator & Student Services Assistant
Soka University of America is offering a full-time Student Conduct Coordinator &amp; Student Services Assistant position.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, this position administers and coordinates student conduct procedures including conducting hearings, responds to crises, provides guidance and trainings, administers interventions, makes appropriate referrals, and other related activities. The Student Conduct Coordinator &amp; Student Services Assistant works to collaborate with representatives across the University in responding to alleged student conduct violations. This position advises students, faculty, staff, and other constituents regarding student conduct policies and procedures, and represents the Director of Student Services/Dean of Students in committees, task forces, and in court hearings and/or depositions as necessary.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Candidates should demonstrate responsiveness toward and understanding of diverse student backgrounds, especially with regard to socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, culture, ability/disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity and have a willingness to facilitate the university&rsquo;s mission to develop global citizens.<br /> &nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;<br /> <strong>Essential duties include but are not limited to:</strong><br /> <em>Student Conduct (50%)</em> <ul> <li>Provides professional support to the Director of Student Services and Dean of Students by administering and coordinating the University&#39;s student conduct procedures and policies, to include coordinating student disciplinary actions, administering sanctions, responding to crises, and inputting and maintaining data in the University&#39;s student conduct tracking system in a timely manner.</li> <li>Coordinates student disciplinary actions and sanctions with campus partners, including Student Health and Counseling, Residential Life, University Counsel, Campus Security, and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.</li> <li>Provides guidance to SUA students, staff, and faculty, and provide formalized training and presentations, regarding student conduct policies and processes, student grievance and disciplinary procedures, academic integrity, changes to SUA policies, and other related matters.</li> <li>Administers sanctions, issues no-contact directives and campus bans, conducts hearings and educational conferences in accordance with the University&#39;s student discipline process for students, visitors, and/or organizations in violation of the University&#39;s Student Codes of Conduct; recommends interventions and education for students regarding social media, copyright issues, and other related student conduct concerns.</li> <li>Ensures that the overall Student conduct process is consistent and compliant with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.</li> <li>Develops and distributes appropriate reports and assessments that detail the statistics of the student conduct process such as caseloads, types of conduct cases, and outcomes on an established, periodic basis.</li> <li>Responds to student crises and emergencies in support of Director of Student Services and the Dean of Students, to include referrals to appropriate medical and/or mental health professionals.</li> <li>Represents the University in court hearings and/or depositions, in defense of disciplinary decisions rendered and as appropriate to the position.</li> <li>Supports the overall activities of the Office of Student Services, to include providing input on opportunities to enhance efficient operations within the department.</li> <li>Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.</li> <li>Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.</li> </ul> &nbsp;<br /> <em>Health and Wellness Programming (30%)</em> <ul> <li>Creates and administers a range of programs and activities to support student well-being according to the University Wellness Framework.</li> <li>Evaluates and recommends improvements for already existing policies and educational opportunities focusing on issues of campus safety, tobacco/alcohol/substance abuse, and sexual misconduct prevention for campus programs and events.</li> <li>Represents the Director of Student Services on committees and/or teams to address a range of student issues, activities and initiatives and provides input on improvements to policies, procedures, educational opportunities, and issues such as campus safety and the use of tobacco, alcohol or other substances on-campus.</li> </ul> &nbsp;<br /> <em>New Student Orientation (20%)</em> <ul> <li>Works alongside the Director of Student Services and Manager of New Student Orientation to support an orientation program for incoming students.</li> <li>Coordinates organization and delivery of online orientation elements.</li> <li>Supports student move-in day logistics.</li> </ul> &nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;<br /> <strong>Qualifications:</strong><br /> <em>Education</em> <ul> <li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree or equivalent.&nbsp; Master&rsquo;s degree preferred.</li> </ul> <em>Experience</em> <ul> <li>Minimum of at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.</li> </ul> <em>Qualifications</em> <ul> <li>Demonstrated ability to: <ul> <li>Conduct investigations and hearings.</li> <li>Work with highly complex and difficult student and visitor situations.</li> <li>Foster a cooperative work environment.</li> <li>Provide legal depositions and testimony.</li> <li>Work effectively with students, faculty, staff and parents, as well as a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.</li> <li>Develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.</li> <li>Evaluate, make recommendations for change, and write new policies.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Skills should include: <ul> <li>Knowledge and understanding of the management of higher education student conduct systems and policies.</li> <li>Knowledge of crisis intervention and advocacy principles and practices.</li> <li>Knowledge of applicable regulatory and accreditation policies and procedures including but not limited to FERPA, Title IX, Student Right to Know, etc.</li> <li>Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.</li> <li>Capacity for developing and sustaining effective relationships with students, faculty and staff.</li> <li>Examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.</li> <li>Strong organizing and coordinating skills.</li> </ul> </li> <li>High ethical and professional standards.</li> </ul> &nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;<br /> Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.&nbsp;
