Position Summary:
 
The Hearing and Development Officer for Student Conduct assists the Dean of Students Office in the facilitation of the student conduct process for violations of the Academic Integrity Policy and Code of Student Conduct. Primary responsibilities for the Hearing and Development Officer include investigating reports of alleged misconduct, meeting with involved parties, issuing appropriate sanctions and corresponding with University partners as needed. The Hearing and Development Officer also assists in the development and execution of workshops and training on the student conduct process for the campus community as well as educational campaigns related to promoting the pillars of integrity at NJIT.
 
Essential Functions:
 
- Serves as a hearing officer for informal and formal processes, including administrative conferences and conduct board hearings as assigned.
 
?- Works directly with students, faculty and staff throughout the duration of the case, directing them to university resources as appropriate.
 
?- Issues case determinations and sanctions. Conducts follow up with involved parties as needed to ensure the successful completion of sanctions.
 
?- Assists in the development and execution of an educational workshop series for students that have violated the Academic Integrity Policy or Code of Student Conduct.
 
?- Assists in the facilitation of training for students on the Academic Integrity Policy and the Code of Student Conduct. This includes training sessions coordinated for specialized populations including but not limited to first year students, athletes, student leaders, and faculty.
 
?- Assists in the training, selection and advisement of the Highlander Integrity Council.
 
?- Assists in the recruitment and training of Conduct Board members and Campus Advisors.
 
?- Serves as an investigator and/or hearing officer for Title IX as needed.
 
?- Works with the Dean of Students Office and campus partners to develop programming that promotes safety, accountability and responsibility.
 
Additional Functions:
 
- Attend major university events.
 
?- Membership on division and university committees.
 
?- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 
Prerequisite Qualifications:
 
- Masters Degree.
 
?- 2 years experience in Higher Education (preferably in Student Conduct, Residence Life, or related field).
 
?- 2 year experience serving as a hearing officer for policy violations.
 
?- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
 
?- Understanding of FERPA, Title IX, and Clery reporting.
 
?- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
