Procedural Guide for Conduct Practitioners

ASCA leadership regularly receives inquiries about if ASCA had a model code and related guidance that could help institutions review, update, and improve their campus procedures. In response, a Presidential Task Force was convened in 2025 to develop this work. The Task Force was responsible for developing a comprehensive publication that includes guidance on leading practices across the student conduct process.

The Procedural Guide for Conduct Practitioners includes content applicable to a variety of institutional types, as well as varying office sizes, with a focus on working with individual students and campus partners. Topics include managing the reporting and referral processes; investigations; training hearing boards and involved participants; resolution options and restorative practices; assessment; and more.

ASCA thanks the Co-Chairs of the Task Force Ryan C. Holmes and Danny Shaha, as well as the additional members, Valerie Glassman, Tamara Greenfield King, Jake Kasper, Katy Larkin, Chris Toutain, and anton ward-zanotto. The publication received additional support and contributions from JaWana Green, Christina Liang, and Christina Parle, as well as Central Office staff. Their collective work developing this publication contributes to a significant resource for the student conduct and higher education community.

The Procedural Guide is available on Amazon and at the ASCA Store.
